Steelman · slot A
Carbon removal as American industrial muscle
A carbon removal industry strategist would argue —
We've been telling the wrong story about ourselves. CO₂ isn't a liability to be buried out of guilt — it's a strategic commodity. Direct air capture can feed enhanced oil recovery, supply sustainable aviation fuel, generate offsets that let LNG exporters keep European markets, and give hyperscalers a defensible answer to communities worried about data center emissions. That's energy dominance, not climate penance. Like fracking before us, and geothermal and nuclear coming up behind us, we can get to a place where this industry stands on its own without subsidy. The Louisiana hub has Republican local leaders behind it because it brings real jobs and real investment. Build the industry here, on American soil, with American workers — or watch China build it instead.

If this read like a fair rendering of the argument — even when you disagree — it's doing its job. Steelmen aren't aimed at persuading you; they're aimed at what the other side actually believes when they're thinking clearly.
