Floor time is a scarce resource
A good-government Democrat would argue —Gas is heading toward five dollars a gallon, the country is in a shooting war with Iran that most Americans oppose, the Supreme Court just gutted what was left of the Voting Rights Act, and rent and groceries are crushing working families. Against that backdrop, two members of Congress chose to spend their week drafting a non-binding resolution about a Twitch streamer and a podcaster. Lawler even pushed this ahead of a war powers vote on Iran. Resolutions like this don't change a single law, don't fund a single program, and don't moderate a single platform — they exist to generate a press release and satisfy donors. Voters can tell the difference between governing and posturing, and this is posturing.
