We buried Naif Samaro today, and his child was born today, and both facts belong to the same people. Governor Daghlas said it plainly at the funeral: this killing will not weaken our resolve. Israel calculates that each raid, each young man shot, each tear-gassed street will wear us down into acceptance. It will not. A people who can carry a coffin through one street while a mother delivers a child on the next are not a people on the verge of surrender. Our answer to the raid on Nablus is the same answer we have given for generations: unity, presence, and refusal to leave.
