Let's be honest about what is happening: while an Israeli-American war on Iran is still underway, German warships are quietly moving toward the theater. The official line is that any mission needs a ceasefire, a legal mandate and parliamentary approval — yet the vessels are being repositioned now, before any of those conditions exist, which is how facts on the water get created ahead of facts in the chamber. "Freedom of navigation" is the softest possible label for inserting the Bundeswehr into the Gulf alongside belligerents. If parliament is going to be asked to ratify a deployment, it should be asked before the fleet is in position, not after.
